Abstract
It is expected that fine bubbles improve the efficiency of high gas dissolution rate into liquid phase. To disperse the submilli-bubbles whose diameter is less than 1 mm, novel gas distributor was developed. By scaling up a single slit orifice to generate submilli-bubbles proposed by Terasaka et al. (2011a), a multi-slit type submilli-bubble distributor was developed for a practical use. The distributor generated the smaller bubbles, the higher gas holdup and the higher volumetric mass transfer coefficient than those of the conventional distributors. The bubbles distributed from each slit were hardly affected by the number of slits. The gas holdup in submilli-bubble aeration was higher than those of the conventional gas distributors. The volumetric mass transfer coefficient was improved from the conventional gas distributors. The multi-slit type submilli-bubble distributor showed fast gas dissolution rate.
