Abstract
An improved Stefan method was used to measure diffusion coefficients of carbon disulfide in several gases at 1 atm and at temperatures from - 10°C to 40°C at intervals of 5°C. Gases used were hydrogen, helium, nitrogen, air and argon, respectively. Values of diffusion coefficient for each system at 25°C were as follows: CS2-H2: 0.455±0.002, CS2-He: 0.415±0.000, CS2-N2: 0.1103±0.0003, CS2-Air: 0.1085±0.0001, CS2-Ar: 0.0963±0.0002 cm2/sec. In the region measured, the temperature exponent for each system lies between 1.689 and 1.755.
