Abstract
The rate of surface renewal, defined by the ratio vλ/λ1 at the clean surface of isotropic turbulent liquid flow is highest for the smallest eddies with size λ0 in the inertial subrange, where λ is the size of eddies and Vλ the fluctuating velocity. The eddies smaller than λ0 are also shown to have a renewal rate the same as λ0, thus indicating that the maximum possible liquid film coefficient of mass transfer is given by the equation reported previously for λ0 New form of surface age distribution function at the clean surface of isotropic turbulent liquid is presented.
