Abstract

Due to the consumption of huge amount of energy in the ceramic industry, its energy assessment is significant. This paper provides on overview of energy consumption in ceramic fabrication including powder synthesis, powder grinding, forming and sintering. Furthermore, we obtained energy consumption in each fabrication stage of alumina ceramics and its total energy consumption as an example case, and discussed the relationship between fabrication processes for energy-saving and optimum particle size.
