Abstract
Various sample glasses have been made by substituting CaO by CoO in such proportion as 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12% in a base glass composed of 72% SiO2, 12% CaO and 16% R′2O where R′2O being consisting of Na2O, K2O and Li2O.
The glasses have been checked dy total analysis and found that they are approximately of expected composition.
Polishing them up in 1mm thickness and their transmission curves of wave lengths in the range of ultraviolet rays and visible light have been obtained; likewise by taking them polished in about 5mm thickness their transmission curves of infra-red region have been sought.
The degree of coloring in each sample glass has also been tested.
