Abstract

Contents of iron in clays for ceramic uses were spectrochemically determined by using D. C. arc and a logarithmic sector. The method is so-called “length-of-line method.” The intensities of Fe lines, 3008. 1, 3020. 6, 3025. 8 and 3037. 5A, were compared with the intensity of Al 3082. 15A.
As the logarithm of intensity ratio of Fe and Al lines equals the difference of length of two lines; the latter is plotted against Fe2O3% in the working curve. The covered range of Fe content is 0.1-3.0%.
The variation of Al content used as the internal standard in the range Al2O3 23-38% does not affect the results. The precision is about ±10%.
