Abstract
Nano sized (Pb0.45Ca0.55)(Fe0.5Nb0.5)O3 (PCFN) powders of a stoichiometric composition and a uniform size distribution were successfully synthesized by a metal-citrate process through the calcinations of the polymeric precursor. The optimum calcination temperature for the crystallization was found to be 700°C. The PCFN powders synthesized were in the size range of 30-50 nm with a uniform shape. A spark plasma sintering technique was found to be very effective in the full densification of the PCFN nano powders at low temperature. The sintered PCFN ceramics exhibited a uniform microstructure and their dielectric characteristics were sufficiently good for them to be applied in the microwave devices.
