Abstract
Single phase bismuth titanate (Bi4Ti3O12, abbreviated to “BIT”) and calcium bismuth titanate (CaBi4Ti4O15, abbreviated to “CBT”) particles have been prepared successfully by a newly developed hydrothermal method. By Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) observation, both BIT and CBT particles were plate like, and their particle sizes are 5 μm and 0.2-0.3 μm for BIT and CBT, respectively. By using these plate like particles, well oriented ceramics of BIT and CBT could be fabricated using the templated grain growth (TGG) method.
