The priority of treatment for head trauma in modern multiple trauma has changed from the past owing to the aging population and the decrease in the number of traffic accidents.
As compared with non-multiple trauma, multiple trauma with head trauma tends to be more common in young people than in old people, but the outcome is poor. In recent years, at the time of initial treatment for multiple trauma, damage control resuscitation has attracted attention especially as a treatment for hemorrhagic shock. Collaboration with other subspecialty physicians is needed to improve the outcome of head trauma with severe systemic trauma. Here, we introduce our efforts to treat multiple trauma cases at our facility, using PRESTO (Prompt and Rapid Endovascular Strategies in Trauma Occasions), a damage-control radiological intervention and the trauma code for collaboration.
