Many patients with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) tend to lean forward, affected by various neurological symptoms. However, there has been no report of studies conducted to examine the dynamic standing balance. We studied the relationship between the degree of trunk forward leaning and dynamic standing balance in LSS patients. The results showed that the dynamic standing balance decreased as the degree of forward leaning of the trunk increased. This suggests that the increase in hip joint extension moment due to trunk forward position was involved in the decrease in dynamic balance ability.
