Abstract

In recent years, low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) has come to be recognized as an effective tool for fracture treatment. However, there are still some limitations in respect of insurance reimbursement. In this study, we investigated the compliance rate (Co) with the use of the LIPUS device, not covered by insurance, lent to 67 young athletes with fractures. The Co was 47.1%, being higher for those with stress fractures than those with fresh fractures. Stress fractures are an important issue that could threaten an athlete's career. Therefore, expanded application of LIPUS is expected in the future.
