Treatment of Hemorrhoid by Oral Administration(Especially by Fragivix Admministration)

Abstract

We had the oppotunity to employ 2-Ethyl-3 (4'-hydroxybenzoyl)-benzofuran (Fragivix) which is expected to have pharmacological actions such as prophylaxis of capillary fragility, decrease of capillary permeability and antiinflammatory effect and administered Fragivix to 85 cases of hemorrhoid.
The dosage is 400 mg-600 mg per day and the administration period ranged from 2 weeks to 3 months
Clinical effect of Fragivix was examined one week and two weeks after start of Fragivix administration.
In early hemorrhoid (less than degree II), Fragivix was effective to 80% of the cases but in late hemorrhoid (more tham degree III) the effective rate was 9%. But it attracts our attention that in anal bleeding, effctive rate of Fragivix is more than 80% not relating with severeness of the symptom.
No serious side effects such as to stop administration was recognized except slight stomach disorder.
Fragivix was administered to the cases of renal funtcion disorder and also to pregnnant cases but no abormality was recognized.
As mentioned above, Fragivix is effetive to early hemorrhoid and also remarkably effective to anal bleeding not relating with severeness of the symptom. And there results substantiate the prophylaxis of capillary fragility of Fragivix. But antiedemic and antiinflammatory effect was not expected.
In late hemorrhoid (more than degree III); clinical effect of only Fragivix administration was not expected and concomitant administration with other medicine or operation is necessary.
