Young patients (aged 1533 years) with diarrhea or abdominal pain following a common cold underwent colon fiberscopy. The endoscopic findings were classified as four types-I : nonreddened edematous mucosa, II : erosion and reddened area without white fur, IIIa : the reddened area around erosion and clear border, IIIb : the reddened area around erosion and unclear border, and IV : erosion and ulcer with white fur. The bacteria in the stool could not be identified in all cases. All became good without eating and drinking for 2 or 3 days. After 2 or 3 weeks, endoscopy was ferformed again, but no remarkable lesion was found in all cases.
In this study, these findings are very similar to other inflammatory diseases of the colon, so it is required to distinguish these diseases by observation.
