Long Term Outcome in Crohn's Disease Patients after Intestinal Resection

Abstract
Postoperative clinical course was evaluated in 73 Crohn's disease patients with more than 10 years follow up after initial intestinal resection. Reoperation was performed in 72.6% and postoperative cumulative reoperation rate was 28% in 5year and 53.5% in 10 year. Multiple surgery more than three times underwent in 29% within 15 yrs after initial intestinal resection. Fecal diversion was performed in 30%. Three patients were dead because of sepsis in 2 patients. Return to social work was found in 89% of the patients. Long term prognosis was suggested to be good after intestinal resection in Crohn's disease.
