Abstract
We report our experiences of robot assisted coronary artery bypass grafting. Materials and Methods: From 2006 July to 2009 September, 16 cases (Men: 13, Women: 3) of robot assisted coronary artery bypass grafting were performed with da Vinci® surgical system. Mean age was 58±11. Mean number of coronary disease was 2.1±0.8. In 12 cases, we performed thoracic coronary artery bypass grafting. And in 2 cases, we performed totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass grafting. other 2 cases, we harvested the left internal thoracic artery with da Vinci® surgical system. For anastomosing of the arteries with Robot, we employed nitinol self-closing clip. Results: Mean number of anastomoses was 2.4±1.5. Mean duration of intensive care unit staying was 2.7±0.4 days. Mean duration of hospital staying was 9.8±2.4 days. About totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass grafting procedure, Mean duration of intensive care unit staying was 1.0±0 days. Mean duration of hospital staying was only 3.5±0.7 days. Mean score of postoperative visual analog pain scale was 2.0±0.5 points. There were no damages of internal thoracic artery. Conclusion: Robotic assisted coronary artery bypass grafting shortened hospital and intensive care unit stay. This procedure is safe, painless and so feasible for the fast track recovery.
