Abstract
It was found by measuring weight losses of zinc specimens immersed different periods of time in the very slightly acid electrolytes of the zinc-manganese dioxide dry cells that additions of small amounts of ammonium gluconate or gluconamide into the electrolyte were quite effective on the prevention of corrosion of zinc.
