Abstract
In this report, results obtained from weathering tests on metallic coatings for 3 years (since April, 1960) were summarized.
The tests were conducted in 7 districts (in Japan) selected as typical places having different environments as mentioned in the 1st Report. The specimens were mild steel plates metal-coated by electroplating, metallizing or hot-dipping, and were exposed in the atmosphere in order to compare their corrosion resistivities affected by the environmental peculiarities of industrial, seaside and inland districts.
Of the metallic coatings examined, the following kinds were found to be particularly resistive to weathering in any of the districts.
Electroplating: zinc, zinc with chromate-treatment, cadmium.
Metallizing: zinc, aluminum.
Hot-dipping: zinc, aluminum.
