Abstract
Corrosion at high temperature in a complex atmosphere can be discussed on the basis of equilibrium corrosion potentials at elevated temperatures. Oxygen and carbon potentials at the test temperature in several corrosion test gases composed of C-H-O-He or C-H-O were analyzed by thermodynamic calculations or by using Gurry's diagrams. An attempt was also made to modify the diagram. Finally, the correspondence between the experimental results and thermodynamic analyses was described in case of corrosion of Inconel 617.
