Studies on the nutritional physiology of the sweet potato : (1) On the relation of potassium to nitrogen ratio and thickening of root tuber

Abstract

(1) The leaves, the stems, and the root-tubers of the sweet potato were chemicaly analysed with the course of its growth. (2) Between the ratio of <K₂O>/N of the fertilizer given and that of the plant treated, highly positive correlation is proved to exist. (3) The development of the root-tuber in the early stages of its growth depends upon the ratio of <K₂O>/N in the plant. When <K₂O>/N becomes greater, the weight of root-tnber is subject to the amount of leaves and stems.
