Studies on the Harm by Shading on Wheat and Barley Plants : VI. NH₄-N absorption under various shading conditions-especially the effects of previous treatments with shading

Abstract

We studied on the inflence of shading treatments upon the NH₄-N absorption of the wheat plant grown by nutrient solution. The results were summarized as follows; 1. By the shading treatment in which the plants were covered with a wooden plate or a sheat of white victoria lawn, the absorption of NH₄-N was decreased. 2. By the diminution of the time of full daylight, the absorption was retarded, too. 3. Those tendencies were in proportion to various degrees of shading. 4. After the shading treatment had been stopped, the effect of it was still observed to some degree.
