Abstract
To improve the mechanical qualities of metals, it is important that impurities in the metals are reduced. In this study, the separation of impurities in molten metals using electromagnetic force is proposed. The floatation separation of a n insulation ball in a low-melting metal was investigated using a superconducting magnet. As a result, floatation separation was successful. The electromagnetic force for floating the insulation ball in the low-melting metal was calculated. It was clarified that the electromagnetic forces for floatation were greater than that in the theories of Leenov.
