Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to describe the effect of the heat conduction along superconducting composite conductors on their stability. In the Stekly's theory for the stability, the heat generated in the composite conductor is assumed to be dissipated only through the surface of the quenched region. However the cooling through the both end of the normal region must be considered when the finite length of the composite conductor goes to normal state.
The relation of the cooling capacity and the length of the normal region is shown and this relation can be applied to the design of the cooling path in superconducting magnets.
