Abstract
This paper d a study performed to obtain the heat transfer charescribesacteristics of liquid helium-I in a vertical tube under forced convection conditions.
The test section was a stainless steel tube of 0.109cm ID and 8.5cm length. The helium pressure ranged from 1.1 to 1.9atm (0.11 to 0.19MN/m2) and the quality (mass vapor fraction) ranged from zero to 1.
Results were correlated using the conventional equations and compared with the data in literatures. The hysteresis observed in the nucleate boiling region was qualitatively discussed. The quality dependence of two-phase flow heat transfer was clearly observed during the increase, but not during the decrease, of heat flux or quality.
