Aluminum phosphate recovery from carbonized sewage sludge

Abstract
In order to find a low cost method of recovering phosphorus from carbonized sewage sludge, acid extraction using sulfuric acid was investigated. Phosphorus extracted from charcoal was recovered using magnesium hydroxide mainly as a form of aluminum phosphate, and magnesium sulfate formed by neutralization was also recovered by evaporation. The recovered aluminum phosphate was almost the same as the phosphorus recovered using sodium bicarbonate.
