Abstract
The control of chilling tendency of spheroidal graphite cast iron becomes a key technology for the production of thin ductile iron castings. In this study, the difference of inoculating effect by Fe-Si exerting on the chill formation was investigated on the melts spheroidized with pure Mg and Fe-Si-Mg alloy. These results indicated that the inoculating effect faded earlier and the chill tendency was severer in pure Mg treated melt.
