Effects of Mixing Ratio of Metal Generated in Garbage Malt Furnace on Mechanical Properties of Flake Graphite Cast Iron

Abstract
  Various steel scraps are used for some raw materials of cast iron. In this research, the ratio of garbage melt metal and electrolytic iron was varied at 0 : 100, 25 : 75, 50 : 50, 75 : 25, and 100 : 0. Flake graphite cast iron was made by using these materials, and the microstructure and mechanical properties were examined. The content of copper and phosphorus increased when the mixing ratio of the garbage melt metal increased. When the mixing ratio increased, pearlite and steadite were observed by matrix and the hardness of Brinell increased. The tensile strength increased up to 75% of the mixing ratio garbage melt metal, but decreased above it. This results in shrinkage by steadite in matrix.
