Conventionally, it has been suggested that the comprehensive melt quality provided by the vacuum coagulation method for dirty molten metal depends on the combination of the amount of oxide and amount of hydrogen. Therefore, in this report, we investigated the relationship between the K-mold method and vacuum coagulation method in the melt of extremely dirty ADC 12 alloy for die casting. The results confirmed that there was a moderate positive correlation between the K value and density index (DI) of the vacuum coagulation method.
