Abstract

Colpocleisis is a minimally invasive vaginal occlusion operation used as a management strategy in women with severe pelvic organ prolapse who no longer desire vaginal sexual function. The procedure is most commonly performed in women of advanced age, who frequently have a lot of complications and cannot tolerate the prolonged anesthetic required for more complex vaginal facial repair procedure. We performed total colpocleisis in patient with complications using a hydrosurgery system without the appearance of prominent complication.

A 81-year old woman, gravid 4 para 2 came to our hospital with POP. She had a pelvic organ prolapse quantification(POP-Q) of stage Ⅳ. Her body mass index(BMI) was 22.6 kg/m and she had a history of intra-pelvic surgeries, and pacemaker implantation for sinus node dysfunctions, angina. We decided to perform total colpocleisis using water jet device. After total colpocleisis, the patient passed without complication and was discharged from the hospital.
