Abstract
Dynamic flow characteristics of a branch component and a junction component are investigated experimentally by using compressible fluid. Isothermal chamber is utilized to achieve an isothermal condition, with which mass flow rate can be calculated from pressure change of the chamber. For the case of a branch flow, air flows through a branch component, and then charges isothermal chambers that are attached to the end of the branches. On the other hand, for the case of a junction flow, air is discharged to atmosphere from the chambers passing through a junction component. Static pressure is measured near the branch and the junction to evaluate pressure loss. In the case of branch flow, the loss coefficient of straight direction is smaller than orthogonal direction. However, in the case of junction flow, loss coefficients are the same despite the directions.
