General Survey of the Post-war Activities in Physical Oceanography

Abstract

The post-war activities in Physical oceanography all through the world are reviewed in this short note. The subjects, firstly treated are theoretical researches in the dynamical oceanography, especially the great advances achieved with respect to the problem of lateral mixing in the ocean. The researches on wind waves and swell, heat transfer between the ocean and the atmosphere, tidal theories, etc follow thereafter.
