Abstract

In liquefaction mitigation measures using compaction-based ground improvement, the confirmation of improvement effects is typically conducted after construction is completed, which poses a challenge in that the effects cannot be assessed during construction process. Therefore, this study proposes a method to estimate ground improvement effects in real time by using construction information. Specifically, we propose a method to estimate the compaction effect, taking into account the construction sequence for the sand compaction pile method. The proposed approach was applied to field data, and its performance was evaluated using cross-validation. As a result, the proposed method enabled approximate estimation of ground characteristics, confirming, its effectiveness and practical applicability.
