Abstract
In order to investigate the influence of airflow from air-conditioners on ventilation through openings in stores that open their storefronts while using air conditioner in summer, a CFD analysis was performed and ventilation rate and air-conditioning load were predicted for various cases. The store model was developed based on a survey of three shopping streets in Kobe City to consider the real situations of opening sizes and the arrangements of the air-conditioner and the items (article for sale including shelfs or platform) nearby their opening. The variants in the calculation cases were as follows; the distance between the air-conditioner and opening (2 cases), the sizes of objects nearby the opening (3 widths and 3 heights), and the positions of the object (3 heights from the floor and 3 locations). It was shown that the cooling load by ventilation became smaller when the air-conditioner were located close to the opening, when the size of the objects blocking the opening was large, when the gap between the object and floor was smaller and when the object was located outdoor side.
