To promote safety use of radioisotopes (RI), education and training videos have been developed for RI users. The content of these videos was determined through a survey conducted among radiation protection supervisors and RI users, taking into consideration the general methods and efficiency of learning. The 11 topics covered are: Handling of equipment for radiation protection, Procedure for opening RI reagent, Effect of shielding material (γ), Effect of shielding material (β), Measurement of air dose rate, Measurement of surface contamination, Hot run and Cold run procedures, Handling of volatile RI, Detection of contamination, Decontamination methods, and Handling of contaminated materials. The videos for “Handling of equipment for radiation protection” and “Procedure for opening RI reagent” have been created and broadcasted on the website of Japan Radioisotopes Association in April 2024 (URL: https://www.jrias.or.jp/report/cat1/314.html). The “Handling of equipment for radiation protection” video covers preparation for RI work, handling of RI in hood, hot run and cold run procedures, detail of cold run, and measures for reducing exposure. The “Procedure for opening RI reagent” video demonstrates the process of unsealing the box containing RI. The remaining nine contents will be developed over two years incorporating feedback from users.
