Abstract
Generally thermoluminescence dosimeter element without any significant exposure shows a large exposure reading when it is unclean, and this phenomena makes it difficult to evaluate the real exposure dose.
In this report one of the methods for detecting the unclean elements is mainly described. We found that the residual value, the reading in the reader at twice, of unclean elements is significantly higher than that of clean elements exposed. As the residual value of each element is different and is not constant at every measurement, data on unclean element is rejected on statistical proccesing of all data, occasionally on referring to the glow curve. The results of the personal monitoring for the past four years, 100 monitoring periods, show that this method has been effective for the evaluation of personal exposure with an accuracy of 1 mrem per 2 weeks.
