Abstract
Effect of reaction piles in vertical load tests of piles have been investigated using a simplified deformation analysis program PRAB. The effect of reaction piles are presented in terms of correction factor which is defined as the ratio of the initial pile head stiffness of the test pile with the use of reaction piles, KG, to that of non-influenced axially loaded single pile, Ki. Pile spacing, pile length and soil stiffness were varied in the analysis. Even for the case of pile spacing of three or more, reaction piles influence the measured settlement of the test pile.
