Abstract
This paper describes shear strength characteristics of ultra soft clay grounds during self-weight consolidation by centrifuge. A series of vane shear tests is carried out for model ground in centrifugal flight. In the vane shear tests, a small torque transducer is put on the vane apparatus in order to measure the shear strength with accuracy. A back-analysis of self-weight consolidation is also carried out to estimate water content and effective overburden stress with vane strength during the consolidation by use of ″CONAN″. Moreover, these results is compared with the vane strengths obtained in laboratory floor.
