Abstract
The consolidated undrained shear tests for glass beads are carried out to investigate the characteristics of stress variation occurring around failure point. Because it can be assumed that the stress variation properties express the generation and collapse condition of particle structure. As a result, it is found that the amplitude and period of stress variation is related to the particle size as well as effective pressure. The stress variation properties are not stable until 50kPa to 70kPa of effective confining pressure. The sample of lower relative density shows more fluctuate behavior, it is suggested that more complex structure is generated.
