Abstract
In recent years, active participation in medication on the part of patients (called “adherence”) has become common in our country, while patients have passively received medical treatment in the past. The World Health Organization defined the term “adherence” as a “patient's self-motivated action to understand their disease, to consent medications recommended by physicians, and to improve their lifestyle by alimentary therapy and drug compliance”. We conducted a comparative study of the convenience of the capsule form versus the combination granule form of TS-1 in inpatients with head and neck cancer using a cross-over method. The results showed equivalence in the convenience of administration between the two dosages forms, suggesting that in terms of drug compliance, the two forms are likely to elicit equal adherence form patients. Judgment from the patient's point of view should be considered in future studies when selecting the dosage form in order to ensure adherence.
