Abstract
Sarcoidosis is a multisystem inflammatory disease of unknown etiology, characterized by the presence of noncaseating granuloma. Neurosarcoidosis affects about 5% of the patients with sarcoidosis. The disease is also known to rarely bring on hearing loss, but the pattern of hearing loss varies greatly. We retrospectively evaluated the hearing loss in 24 patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis, who consulted our department in the past decade. Three patients had symptoms of hearing loss, and we herein discuss the test results of these patients. The results did not show any significant relationship between neurosarcoidosis and hearing loss, but indicated the possibility of a relationship. The accumulation of additional reports and detailed examinations are needed.
