Abstract
In recent years the plasty of cleft palate has come to be performed at an early age, and the usual method of fixing the palate after the operation by using the celluloid flooring which demands more skill, is not fitted to children.
In ten cases, four of which soft palate cleft and six of hard palate cleft. The author employed a new fixing method after the operation using Tesilon gauze and a binding agent (alkyl-α-cyanoacrylatemonomer:“Aron alpha A Sankyo”), instead of a celluloid flooring.
Seven days after the procedure, the solidified gauze was peeled off, and there was no erosion found on the mucous membrane nor any fissure of the seam.
Since there is no necessity of making impress of the palate, this new method is thought to be well applicable especially for infants.
