Abstract
Nucleic acids existing in cells as nucleoprotein have been known as one of the important substances in protein metabolism. Since the experimental study on nucleic acids was carried out by F. Miescher in 1868, they have been studied by many investigators. In otology, nucleic acids have been studied with regard to acoustic trauma and ototoxic damages. S. Kawata reported first in Japan (1939) on the thiamine therapy of hereditary deafness and professional one with diplacusis, and that deafness and tinnitus had got better by the administration of vitamin Bi. In the present investigation, the quantitative changes of nucleic acids and vitamin Bi in the organ of Corti following some acoustic stimulation and the relationship between vitamin Bi and acoustic trauma was observed.
