Abstract
Reconstructive surgery using D-P flap was performed in 29 patients who had previously undergone a wide resection of the tumor in the head and neck, namely the reconstruction of the oral cavity in 14 cases, that of the hypopharynx and cervical esophagus in 11 cases and the replacement of the resected skin in 4 cases. The reconstruction was impossible in 6 other cases because of the loss of the skin fiap. Possible causes of this complication are discussed in the light of available literature. It is authors' opinion that the wide excision followed by the repair with D-P flap is presently the best method for the treatment of the head and neck tumor in the advanced stage.
