Abstract
Microorganisms in otorrhea of 894 specimens from patients with chronic suppurative otitis media were isolated and examined for sensitivity to antibiotics. A total of 2353 bacterial isolates were present.(aerobic GPC 30%, GPR 40%, GNR 20% and anaerobes 10%)
It indicates the complexity of pathogenesis of chronic suppurative otitis media that plural microorganisms were isolated in 76% of culture positive specimens.
The authors placed emphasis on Proteus inconstans, glucose non-fermentative GNR and anaerobes as pathogens of chronic suppurative otitis media, in addition to Staph. aureus, Ps. aeruginosa and Proteus mirabilis.
