Abstract
A case of psychogenic deafness was reported. A 12 year old boy who had suffered from sudden deafness of the right ear since two years suddenly complained of severe deafness in the left ear. In spite of subjective hearing loss, speech audiometry and auditory brain stem response revealed: normal hearing. Through psychotherapy, hearing loss became normal 3 months after the onset.
The discrepancy between subjective audiometry and objective measure such as auditory brain stem response or stapedial reflex, is important in diagnosis of psychogenic deafness
