Abstract
Multiple primary malignant tumors were observed in 6 (3.4%) of 174 cases of laryngeal cancers (LC) and 11 (4.8%) of 228 cases of maxillary cancers (MC) in our Clinic between 1961 and 1980. The average age of detection of multipleness was 63 years in LC and 59 in MC. The most predominant association with LC was found in bladders (2 cases), followed by in the pharynx, esophagus, stomach, rectum and prostata (1 case each, including 1 of triple cancers). Association with MC was frequent in the decreasing order of reversed maxillary sinus (4 cases), the stomach (2), uterus (2), pancreas, soft palate and mamma (1 each). As most of second cancers were found with in 3 years from occurrence, it may be desirable to examine for other malignancies fully for at least 3 years.
