Abstract
A case report of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in the bilateral nasal cavity is reported and literature is reviewed. The patient, a 48 year-old-man, complained of nasal obstruction on the left side and bloody rhinorrhea. The histopathological diagnosis was diffuse large-cell type non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Complete remission was observed with radiation therapy and repeated combination chemotherapy (VEMP) of 6 series. Local recurrence on the right nasal cavity was found 6 years after the complete remission, hence, radiation therapy and combination chemotherapy (VEPA) were again initiated. Complete remission was observed once more and a nine-month follow up showed no recurrence. Radiation therapy has been the treatment of choice for most patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinus present with stage I-II of the disease. Usually, relapse develops within 2 years and most patients with failures have distant spread of the disease with or without local recurrence. Local recurrence alone at the first relapse is rare. We emphasized, in this paper, that intensive combination chemotherapy should be employed even for stage I patients in the treatment of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinus.
