Abstract
The correlation between subjective disability in actions of daily living and the variables of posturography measurement and gait analysis were investigated in the elderly group cosisted of the 11 patients with balance disorder of central origin and the 22 healthy persons. The result showed that the area of body sway with eyes open or closed, the walking speed in ordinary gait with eyes open, the ratio of stance phase to swing phase in ordinary gait with eyes open or closed were significantly related to the subjective disability in actions of daily living. We speculated that not only worsening of postural control but also muscle weakness of lower limbs might cause the disability in daily living of elderly patients with balance disorder of central origin.
