Abstract
We investigated the clinical effect of tofisopam on 45 patients who complained of either tinnitus or an equibullium disorder. In this study we evaluated the improvement of the subjective symptoms and clinical findings and also used TMI to investigate the mental backgrounds of the patients. Tofisopam was effective in 85% of the patients with tinnitus and in 83% of the patients with an equibullium disorder. In the equibullium disorder patients, the group of patients with other drugs showed a higher effectiveness than in the group without any other drugs. In the tinnitus patients, the group without any drugs showed as high a rate of effectiveness as the group with the other drugs. Regarding the analysis of the mental backgrounds with TMI, the patients of type II and IV showed a higher effectiveness than the type I patients. According to the Schellong test, 5 cases were positive and normalized after medication. We thus considered that tofisopam improved the autonomic imbalance and corrected the presence of a vicious cycle in patients with tinnitus or an equibullium disorder.
