Abstract
Minor Tremor (MT) of the patients of peripheral facial palsy has been recorded as the aid of determining the appropriate therapeutic method and of judging the effects of the treatment applied. An analysis of our observations revealed that MT recording is sufficiently useful for the purposes.
1) In general, MT was recorded from the upper eyelid of the patients. The observation of its wave pattern during the photic stimulation of 10 per second was quite helpful for determining the degree of the palsy.
2) The “stellate block” has been given to the patients as a main palliative treatment. The treatment and the addition of the administration of ATP brought about a considerably good result.
3) The following advantages can be mentioned about MT recording as a diagnostic measure for the facial palsy
a. Patients are free from troubles during recording.
b. MT can always be recorded from the same position.
c. It can be observed easily and directly and the records are preservable.
4) The relation between the therapeutic effect and MT in several cases of peripheral facial palsy has been discussed.
