A case of left compound paralysis of the larynx caused by syphilis was experienced. Principal symptoms were:
Impaired closure of the left eye-lid, paresis on the facial skin of the left half, ptosis of the left labial angle, disturbed tongue movement and paralysis of taste, paralysis of soft palate, anaesthesia of the pharynx, sensory disturbance of larynx and paralysis of the vocal chord.
The patient died in the course of the antisyphilitic cure.
